    Faults codes: 100, 110, 300,1346, 1351 - vvti '98 LS400

By the way, the engine runs very smoothly for the 1st 10 minutes, the erratic idling starts when the engine warms up. Any idea why this happens? Thanks.

    Faults codes: 100, 110, 300,1346, 1351 - vvti '98 LS400

Here's my problem guys: I've just changed the tb, cranked it up and it ran nicely at the startup rpms, once it warmed up the idle became irratic - fluctuating and almost dying out. I pulled fault codes: 100 (MAF), 110 (IAT SENSOR), and "pending" codes 300 (random multiple cyl misfire) code...

    Cam seals 1uz

cam housing seal rplmt - glove Thanks for the reply Glove, ok valve covers it is, I have no problem removing them, I just thought I could save some time if the job could be done without removing them. As I thought about it, I will remove them anyway and replace the "rockers" cover gaskets...

    Cam seals 1uz

Hi Ash: Thanks for the pics on the blocking plate for the rear cam plugs, but I've already taken care of that months ago, my problem now is removing the "front cam/housing seals" on a 1998 LS400 with the VVTI engine. As I've mentioned, there's a hex bolt located in the center of the cams that...

    Cam seals 1uz

cam housing seal rplmt - glove Sorry, I meant removing the "valve" covers, I'm trying to replace the front cam housing oil seals on a 1998 LS400, I'm trying to figure out how to remove the center bolt in the cam without turning the pulley, the cam and pulley move "independently" on the vvti...

    Cam seals 1uz

any advice on the front cam seal replacements without removing the cam covers on a 1998 LS 400? It seems it can not be done on the vvti cam pulleys without first removing the cam covers so you can brace the cam while removing the inner hex bolt from the pulley, any suggestions on how to...

    Cam seals 1uz

Cam seal Thanks Steve, it's a mystery to me why the rt plate is missing, I guess it must have worked itself loose and came off, the plate and the seal have disappeared. I'll fashion another plate to replace it, would the dealer stock the blocking plates? Thanks again. LS400GUY

    Cam seals 1uz

Lex..about the rear cam seals I'm not sure what you mean by the "blocking plates". I've notice a metal cover on the rear left cam(driver side), but nothing inside the rt rear cam housing, I can see the rubber "cup" seal being blown out but do not see any blocking plate on this cam housing...

Does the 95 LS400 have an oil cooler?

oil cooler question Never mind guys, I've found it!! It's the rt. rear cam seal, do those seals just blow out from eng pressure? Why isn't it secure like the left rear one? Kind of odd Lexus would use this kind of design, wouldn't you say? Whew, I'M happy it's not the dreaded head gask...

Does the 95 LS400 have an oil cooler?

Are there any hoses or connections in the rear of the engine that carries oil? I haven't had a chance to jack up the front so I can't see where oil is leaking from the rear of the engine. I can only see if drip down on the exhaust connection pipe flange, anyone have any ideas where it's coming...

small oil and coolant leak '95 LS400

I'm noticing a slow oil and coolant leak in the rear of the engine on the right bank. I first thought it was the infamous pow steering leak falling on the exhaust pipe causing smoking as the pipes get hot and burning off the oil. However, when I watched it while idling I noticed that oil &...
