    Yup that's the one...with the sump off it also looked kosha. There was quite a bit of oil in the intake I thought was weird but there is no blow by when running and comp on the cyls I have tested is fine. It all looks good bar the clanging of hammers once running :(

    It was a going concern, it's not a fresh build. Oil pressure is very healthy and noise is not oil pressure related...I'll work thru all the checks ta. Seems I will have to as nothing simple is coming up as a possibility :( it's starting to feel expensive

    It's been sitting a while, although I did turn it over gently by hand on occasion. Oil pressure is very healthy. Multiple knocks in both heads. You can feel them with your hand on the cam cover so pretty solid. Piston tops I have Checked all look fine. I'll whip the cam covers off, all plugs...

    Pistons aren't coated but either way it's not piston slap. It's definitely in the heads but valves aren't touching pistons. If valve clearances were out a mile I guess it could sound this bad? As for the sale it was TTLex...he parted put the whole car so it seemed legit? Lol I have sold a mint...

    It's more than a rattle in this case....a head full of smurfs with hammers is how I have described it elsewhere....it makes no sense if this was a runner as sold? Even if it developed as issue this noise is so loud you would shut the car down instantly...it's not a mild " oh what's that?"...

    Has anyone (for whatever reason) run their 1UZ or 3UZ VVTi with the VVTi disconnected? I am curious if the ECU will even let the car start and if so how did it run? My built VVTi with aftermarket ECU is behaving badly....i'm trying to determine if it is expected that it would sound as rattly...

If that is rwhp ( I suspect it's actually flywheel hp and even then 8psi isn't enough boost), it would take nearly double the boost to make that power. A stock VVTi will make ballpark 200rwhp so clearly to make double...

    The SRT kit is a nice bit of gear, I hadn't see one before I went looking this morning. Pretty optimistic power figures though at the boost you have mentioned. There is just no way in the world you will make 400rwhp from 7 psi!! Even if the system was 100% efficient that power defies physics...

    Yeah good question, i'm wondering that myself now seeing it's still sitting on my workbench. In short i was in a rush to get to that standing 1000m event last year and couldn't afford the time to do a full rewire...in hindsight :rolleyes:

    Yes I should check all the simple stuff too I guess eh. E85 is gentle on plugs though and there's still this screwy mismatch in rpm signal I have. ECU is reading half actual rpm so it's not ready that crank trigger correctly I don't think?
