    The heads are already very good so you won't see worthwhile gains from porting.....unless you are going for a 10K rpm screamer? Supertech do well priced 1mm oversize valves which are worthwile i think. Cams are needed if you want to be in the 400hp at the fly range n/a

    It's totally an interference engine...my box of bent valves is all the proof you need :( It'll run fine with no VVTi actuation...can sound a bit rattly though.

    The gaskets are not interchangeable as the non VVTi one is missing one of the oil feeds to the front of the VVTi head. As for reusability, yes. But, i would then use a good quality gasket sealant such as hylomar and i would be very very wary of reusing the stock head bolts as they are 'torque...

    I run an eBay China 50mm 2 or 3 row core, x2 Davies Craig 10 inch fans. It's fine 98% of the time. If I push hard at the track for something like 20 minutes it will heat soak and temps will creep up. If I push hard for that long though I'm totally stuffed myself anyway and need a break ;)...

    Yup, you are either getting det you aren't aware of or the gasket was compromised from when the stock head bolts stretched. That incident may have also softened that small section of the head? Definitely strange but if you can live with the lower boost level then not really a drama?

    Oh and BTW, the engines mentions weren't o-ringed. My current VVTi build isn't o-ringed either and i intend running 25psi....i'll let you know how that goes :)

    Yes im kinda staggered you have seen the power levels you have with the stock ECU and not lunched the engine completely? How many interceptors do you have on there for fuel with boost and to adjust ign timing? or just a rising rate fuel reg?

    There are at least 2 1UZ here using ARP studs running much more boost than you do and for greater power with no HG sealing issues. Even my stock setup made 500ish rwhp for ages before the stock HG started to leak. I would suggest your problems are something other than the head lifting. What...

    Carbonetuc clutches are awesome....and pricey. Mates 550rwkw Supra runs one and it's totally streetable. It's a triple from memory. As I said though, pricey at $3500ish AUD

    I've been there before a few times now ;) My money is on the torsen housing letting go....I've done that even with the AWD turbo 4 cyl. Clutch plate centre will cure your woes, no need for anything more extreme than that.
