3UZ Check Engine Light + Oil Pressure Light + Alternator Light

I've been inspired by Chris' videos (Phoenix Engine Management on YouTube), and I have decided to include an extra LED in my 3UZ fuse box for the CEL. As I understand it the CEL (or MIL) is triggered by a switched GND provided by the ECM, so duplicating this indicator in the fuse box or engine...

    LS430 Instrument Panel Swap

I've now got an LS430 instrument panel to test, and it's now looking like the PWM circuit is in the D-S J/B ECU (which I don't have), because connecting the output of the LS430 dash panel rheostat to the ILL- pin of the panel doesn't really dim anything. (It jumps down to about 80% when I turn...

    LS430 Instrument Panel Swap

Thanks, I plan to use a PWM-type dimmer from a Toyota, e.g., 84119-60100 (2002-09 Landcruiser wOptitron). I was wondering if anyone knew for sure how the LS430 panel is wired internally. JZH

    LS430 Instrument Panel Swap

I'm using almost everything from a 2004-06 LS430 in my swap, including (I hope) the instrument panel. I've got the All4Swap MPX-GATE 1M interface module for certain functions, but I'm not yet sure how I'm going to integrate the instrument panel dimming feature into my vehicle. The LS430...

    LPG Conversions

Thanks, it sounds like there are potentially both good and bad aspects of doing this. Maybe if I stumble upon a deal I just cannot pass up I will have another look at it, but as I don't yet have any experience with a "normal" 3UZ engine, I should probably leave the task of reverting it back to...

    LPG Conversions

I'm currently looking for a donor LS430 (2004-06), and it is clear from the numbers appearing in the ads that this car was a popular LPG conversion target for some time. I don't want an LPG-converted engine in my vehicle, so how hard would it be to revert the convert? Is it a simple matter of...

    Hiace Brake Upgrades

I'm trying! But I think the Hiace rotors may be of an unusual overall height, due to the OEM wheel "inset". I remember trying to find any other 6x139.7mm wheel that would fit the van, but all the other wheels have some measure of offset. Had to get wheels shipped from Japan in the end. Maybe...

    Hiace Brake Upgrades

There's not a lot of information out there about upgrading the brakes on a H200 Hiace, but my recent experience driving in Germany on the Autobahns has convinced me that I need better front brakes! (And suspension, and of course, V8 power...) I've checked the OEM parts and dimensions, which...

    Newer Hiace V8 Conversions

Good stuff. Lewisham is very close to where I live in SE London, so if you ever see a blue Hiace driving around, it's me! Ciao, JZH

    Newer Hiace V8 Conversions

Congratulations! Which year? I did the IVA/SVA thing myself, and it wasn't a problem at all. All I had to do was add a rear fog light and switch, and fit an MPH speedo face from Lockwood. Insurance was more of a problem, but I ended up with Direct Line. I'm still not sure they realise...

    Newer Hiace V8 Conversions

In theory, there ought to be a lot of English-language information about these vans in Australia and New Zealand, but I have never found an active H200 modification community in English. TBH, I am struggling a bit to find accurate information, but I'm probably doing okay with online...

VVTI 5 speed auto box problem

I just happened to have watched one of Kelvin's videos, which might help: Ciao, JZH

    Newer Hiace V8 Conversions

Welcome to the forum--why a Hiace? There are a few other H200s in the UK, though I've yet to see one on the road. I'm still "working" on the V8 conversion--in my head, anyway. So I'm still shopping for my donor LS430. Saw an '06 on eBay the other day for £3k. Only 323,000mi... But I...

    Newer Hiace V8 Conversions

Lucky you! If I lived in NZ I would definitely be giving Kelvin a call. Covid has (temporarily) stopped progress on my swap, so I've been working on the interior in the meantime. Boring, but necessary! Ciao, JZH

Silly but General Question about ECUs

Understood. Would it be worthwhile (for me!) to buy a copy of your early Hiace conversion instructions? I've got plenty of time to plan everything out... Cheers, JZH

Silly but General Question about ECUs

Thanks, Kelvin. It sounds slightly complicated! And not what I was hoping to hear. By the way, are you any closer to writing up your late-Hiace conversion instructions? Cheers, JZH

Silly but General Question about ECUs

I've been "preparing" for my particular swap for longer than I would have liked (thank you, Covid-19), but I still don't know how the engine's ECU and the vehicle's original ECU are supposed to work together (or not) after the conversion. (My swap is a UK LS430 6-speed into a JDM 2013 Toyota...

    Newer Hiace V8 Conversions

I may, but there are precious few accounts online of this actually happening--mainly just people like you, wagging fingers... My project, by the way, is still "on", but I'm working through some financial issues at the moment, so I have yet to be able to buy the donor LS430 or the conversion...

    simple goal, noob post

The logic works for me. I once bought a bike (VFR800FiY) in order to fit an A&A supercharger kit to it--that kit cost twice what the bike did! Ciao, JZH

    Newer Hiace V8 Conversions

Sounds like a plan! I've just checked with my local council, and even if I can't get anyone to pay me for the shell, they will take it away for free. I was afraid I'd be stuck with paying loads to recycle hazardous materials, etc., but it appears that my taxes are already paying for it...
